What’s in the free Christian Valentine activity sheets

  • Four Bible story coloring pages for ages 6 to 12, each with its big idea and Bible reference
  • Eight puzzles for ages 6 to 12: a maze, find the differences, color by code and a heart connect the dots. Each comes at Level 1 and Challenge.
  • Answer keys for every puzzle, both levels (pages 18 to 21)
  • Eight preschool pages for ages 3 to 5: a coloring page and an activity sheet each week (pages 22 to 29)
  • The four Bible stories in plain words on one page, with a simple line about Hosea for preschoolers (page 5)
  • A welcome letter, a contents page and a printing plan with page numbers filled in (pages 2 to 4)

The pages are the student handouts from Be Mine, a four-week Sunday school series on God’s love from The Sunday School Store. Three people on the store team made and tested them. Lily, the team’s page tester, colored and solved the pages before they were shared. Her hands are on the cover of the pack. Every Kids puzzle ends with a “Keep Talking” question for a teacher or parent to ask.

Four weeks of Valentine Bible activities for kids

Each week is one Bible story. The coloring page shows the story, and the puzzle gives kids a job to do with their hands. Read the passage from your Bible first, then hand out the pages.

  1. Kindness can change everything (2 Kings 5:1-14). A servant girl is kind to Naaman, an enemy army commander. Kids ages 6 to 12 work a maze. Preschoolers count hearts. Ask me: “Who made Naaman all better?” Pages 6 to 8, and 22 and 23.
  2. Love makes room for everyone (Luke 14:12-14). Jesus tells a dinner host to invite people who can never pay him back. Kids find the differences between two pictures. Preschoolers match pictures. Ask me: “Who does Jesus have room for?” Pages 9 to 11, and 24 and 25.
  3. Real love puts others first (Philippians 2:1-11). Jesus is King, yet He came as a servant. Kids color by code. Level 1 needs no reading, and the Challenge asks five story questions. Preschoolers find and circle 5 hearts. Ask me: “How did Jesus put others first?” Pages 12 to 14, and 26 and 27.
  4. God’s love never quits (Hosea 1-3). Hosea keeps loving his wife and brings her home, a picture of God’s love for His people. Kids connect the dots to make a heart. Level 1 counts to 20, and the Challenge counts by 2s. Preschoolers circle the picture that happened first. Ask me: “Does God ever stop loving you?” Pages 15 to 17, and 28 and 29.

The memory verse for all four weeks is 1 John 4:19: “We love because He first loved us” (BSB).

How to use these printables on Valentine Sunday

Valentine’s Day is a good time to talk about real love. These steps keep one class together, whatever the ages.

  1. Pick your plan. Page 4 lists pages for four Sundays, one Valentine Sunday, or quiet pages. For a lighter day, use Week 1 and the heart counting page.
  2. Tell the story first. Read the passage out loud, then use page 5 to retell it in plain words.
  3. Hand out pages by level, not by age. Give the Challenge puzzle to kids who read well and Level 1 to everyone else. Preschool sheets are for children who do not read yet.
  4. Pair an older child with a younger one. The older child reads the direction out loud and cheers the younger child on.
  5. Keep the Hosea story simple for the youngest. The pack tells it in three short lines: “Hosea’s wife went away. Hosea still loved her, so he went and brought her home. God never stops loving you.”
  6. Close with one question. Ask the “Keep Talking” or “Ask me” question from the bottom of the page, then send the page home so families can ask it again.

The Love of God is the greatest valentine a person can receive. Jesus Christ shows us the real meaning of love – which is much better than all the silly Valentine’s Day stuff kids absorb in American culture.

Valentine activities for toddlers and preschoolers

The preschool pages are made for ages 3 to 5. With younger toddlers, start with the four coloring pages on pages 22, 24, 26 and 28. Let them scribble while you tell the story in two or three sentences. The heart counting page (page 23) and the find five hearts page (page 27) also work if a helper points along with them.

Printing tips for Sunday school

  • Print on plain letter paper. Print the preschool activity sheets in color if you can, because they are full-color pictures.
  • Give each child one level of a puzzle. Print the answer keys once for the teacher, not for every child.
  • No scissors or glue are needed. Crayons and pencils with erasers are enough.
  • For a quiet bag during the church service, staple a few pages together. Ages 3 to 5 can use pages 22, 23, 24, 26, 27 and 28. Ages 6 to 12 can use pages 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 16.

Questions about these Christian Valentine printables

Can I print these for my whole class?

Yes. Print as many copies as your church, classroom, homeschool or family needs. Please don’t sell the pages or post the file on another site. Link to this page instead.

Do preschoolers need to know how to read?

No. Every preschool page works with pictures. Read the one-line direction at the top out loud, and the child can do the rest.

Is there a lesson to go with the pages?

Each coloring page prints its Bible reference, so you can tell the story from your Bible. For ready lessons, see the Valentine’s Day Bible lessons on this site. For more Valentine pictures to color, try these free printable pages.
